“Hon. Magaji Abubakar Olawoyin (Ilorin Central), moved a motion without notice, seconded by Hon. Awodiji Omotayo Felix (Irepodun) on the appointment of Hajia Halimat Jummai Kperogi who formally retired on Wednesday 29th September 2021 as the Clerk to the House on contract appointment for six months, effective from Thursday 30th September 2021. The motion was resolved in the affirmative while all necessary documents relating to this appointment be signed with Kwara State House of Assembly Service Commission,” the Assembly order of proceedings partly reads.
Concerns have been expressed as a supposed retired, widow, Clerk of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hajia Halimah Jummai Kperogi was pictured with the twenty-four (24) members of the Assembly in the Republic of Rwanda.
In a group photograph sighted by THE ELITES WATCH, Hajia Kperogi was seen nose-covered with spectacles, garbed on a Jilbab, a large size Egyptian Hijab with a peach-colored inner crossed cap holding a bottle water with her left hand, an android phone with her right hand, and flanked by (L-R) Member representing Edu/Lafiagi Constituency at the KWHA, Hon. Guyegi Ndamusa; House Leader Abubakar Magaji Olawoyin, with other members of the Assembly.

On September 11, 2021, The supposed retired Assembly Clerk, however, lost her husband, Alhaji Salihu Aliyu Kperogi which left her as a widow.

According to Islamic practice, a woman must observe after the death of her husband or after a divorce what is termed ‘Iddah’ literary means Period of Waiting. One of the main purposes of the waiting period is to remove any doubt as to the paternity of a child born after the divorce or death of the prior husband.
The length of ‘Iddah’ (Period of Waiting) varies according to several circumstances. Generally, For a woman whose husband has died, the ‘Iddah’ is four lunar months and ten days after the death of her husband, whether or not the marriage was consummated.
Hajia Halimah Jummai Kperogi is a practicing Muslim, she hailed from Baruten, Baruten Local Government Area Council in Kwara State(North).
Recall there were rumored extension of her retired date allegedly on the influence of the Kwara State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Salihu Danladi who is equally alleged to be a sibling to the supposed retired Clerk of the House.
However, the alleged extension of Hajia Kperogi’s tenure as the Assembly Clerk was doused during the presentation of a copy of the Sports Commission Amendment and Education Trust Fund Bill passed by the house which was subsequently signed into law by the governor on October 14, 2021, in presence of the Assembly Speaker, the House Leader, and Mallam Kareem Ahmed Olayiwola (Deputy Clerk) who was then addressed as the acting clerk of the house.

In another development, the Kwara State House of Assembly in its Order of Proceedings on October 12, 2021, under the motion without notice ratified a six (6) months contract appointment to the supposed retired Clerk of the house, Hajia Halimah Jummai Kperogi upon her formal retirement dated September 29, 2021.

Meanwhile, the twenty-four (24) Kwara Assembly Members have been out of the country for two weeks now. They were reported to have embarked on a trip to the Republic of Rwanda. While the reason for their trip could not be ascertained, there are speculations that the Assembly Members were all on a by-yearly training which is expected to equip them in their line of duties.
