A frontline online media platform in Kwara state, Just Event Online has asked Mallam Saliu Mustapha’s aide, Barrister Abdulkareem Alabi to retract his comment made to the outlet.
This came after he described the media’s work as “Brainless”.
AbdulKareem, one of the aides to the senator-elect for Kwara Central district, Turaki Saliu Mustapha made the statement on a popular microblog platform, Kwara Commission on Wednesday, in Ilorin, the state capital.
THE ELITES WATCH ONLINE NEWSPAPER learnt that a report was published by Just Event Online over the order granted by the court to the Senatorial Candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) for Kwara Central district.
The court had earlier granted Aiyelabegan Kayode Abdul who was the NNPP senatorial candidate over his request to inspect, scan, and make photocopies of the ballot papers and other electoral materials used for the National Assembly elections conducted on 25th February 2023.
It was reported that the court order granted to the applicant allows him to further argue his petition against the respondent, the Senator-elect, Turaki Saliu Mustapha.
According to Just Event Online, the media platform reliably gathered that the Senator-elect has evaded court service for the sixth time which prompted the recent order.
Reacting to the degrading comment by the Senator-elect aide, Just Event Online in a statement expressed dismay that “despite being a legal practitioner and aide to a prospective federal lawmaker, AbdulKareem dares to disparage the media profession”.
The statement, however, asked that “Abdulkareem withdraw his statement or prepare himself for legal fireworks”.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had earlier declared Saliu Mustapha of the All Progressives Congress (APC) the winner of the Kwara Central Senatorial election conducted on the 25th of February, 2023.
Meanwhile, Aiyelabegan of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) rejected the outcome of the election and vowed to challenge the result of the poll in court.
He also requested the cancellation of the NASS election.
