Former Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly Professor, Rt. Hon. Prof. Ali Ahmad has lauded the mega scholarship sponsored by the former Senate President Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki CON, initiatives towards making education attractive to intending students in the state.
This is as indigenous varsity, Muhammad Kamalud-deen University, Ilorin, on Saturday, held its first-ever matriculation ceremony welcoming 146 newly admitted students to commence their academic session under a seemingly conducive learning environment.
The maiden event also witnessed the formal installation of distinguished retired Justice of the Court of Appeal and the 11th Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, and Prof. AbdulRaheem Oba, the former vice-chancellor of the University of Ilorin, as its new chancellor and pro-chancellor, respectively.
The duo eminent personalities assume the university’s apex decision-making body, along with other notable figures.
In a congratulatory statement signed by the Spokesperson for the Ali Ahmad Media Office, Steve Makinde, the former lawmaker extolled the royal father for his active contribution to the development of education, morality, and social values within the indigenous university and beyond.
Professor Ali also appealed to the university management to maintain the utmost commitment to providing quality education, as this plays a pivotal role in moulding a brighter future for the next generation of young leaders.
He, meanwhile, advised the newly admitted students to utilize the opportunities offered by the university, urging them to steer clear of negative influences and instead, showcase the rich cultural heritage of the state to the rest of the nation.
