As part of plans to elect new sets of leadership in Kwara State at the 2023 general elections, the Peoples Democratic Party in the state had published a list of principal officers and members of the campaign council, one of the directors, Kayode Ogunlowo who was earlier announced as the Director of Communications and Publicity for the PDP Gubernatorial campaign council has made a new announcement.
The frontline member and Social Media Influencer, Kayode Ogunlowo withdrew his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) “Unified” Governorship and Presidential campaign council in Kwara.
In a statement posted on his Facebook page, Ogunlowo said, “I want to use the medium and opportunity to announce my withdrawal from the PDP Governorship campaign council.
“This decision is imperative for me at this moment to be more concentrated on doors to doors campaign and grassroots mobilization for our party.
“The success of our party is more important than anything at this crucial time.
THE ELITES WATCH reports that Ogunlowo, Ishowo, Adisa-Jaji alongside five hundred and forty-seven (547) others were recently appointed to the Kwara PDP Unified Gubernatorial and Presidential Campaign Council in the state.
While Ogunlowo was named the Director of Communications and Publicity for the Governorship campaign council, others were enlisted as principals and members of the party’s campaign council.
Restating his loyalty and commitment to the PDP, Ogunlowo said “I will continue to remain committed and loyal party member of our great party PDP.”
Meanwhile, in what seems like a backtrack, the State Publicity Secretary of the PDP in Kwara, Prince Tunji Morofounye, on Monday evening, in a statement, announced that the party will publish a “comprehensive” campaign council on Tuesday.
The statement stated, “A comprehensive PDP unified, campaign council list of names will be published in the Moonlight newspaper on Tuesday 13th December 2022.”
Three principal officers were named as Directors and Head of Department, according to the statement.
“We also use this notice to announce the appointments of Mr. Lawal Akanbi Sharafadeen (Arab) as the Director of Media for the state campaign Council and Mr. Olushola Olusegun Adewara (Shollyment) as the Head of Department of New Media of the state campaign Council. Mr. ‘Kayode Ogunlowo is the Director of Publicity for the state Campaign Council.”
It is however not clear whether the announcement of Ogunlowo’s resignation is connected to the new development made by the party.
