The Executive Governor of Kwara State, Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Monday failed to issue a public statement congratulating his deputy, Mr Kayode Alabi on the occasion of his 59th birthday anniversary.
This is a clear departure from the governor’s norm of congratulating party chieftains and top dignitaries on their birthday anniversaries.
The reason for not felicitating with the deputy governor remained unclear.
However, there are speculations by some political analysts in the state that the government may have deliberately ignored the deputy governor’s birthday due to the recent sour relationship between the duo.
According to a top source, Gov. AbdulRazaq’s decision to dump Mr Kayode Alabi as his deputy for a second-term joint ticket was said to have met stiff resistance from the governor’s younger brother. Kayode Alabi was believed to be a domestic aide of Gov. AbdulRazaq’s younger brother for decades.
Meanwhile, the governor on Monday visited some ongoing projects within the state capital which included his visit to the Ilorin Visual Arts Centre.
“Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has on Monday paid a working visit to the Ilorin Visual Arts Centre. The Governor inspected the progress and quality of the construction works at the facility in company of Commissioner for Communications, Hon. Olabode Towoju.
“The Ilorin Visual Arts Centre is one of the legacy projects of the AbdulRazaq led administration.
“When completed, it will be the first purpose-built contemporary film and art institute in West Africa and the second Dolby Atmos Certified film production studio in the region. It is a project that will not only make the state the go-to place in the creative and entertainment industry but also create jobs and sustainable growth,” a statement circulated by the agents of the state government when the governor visited sites of the ongoing project reads in part.
