Hakeem Oladimeji Lawal, the Social Democratic Party’s Gubernatorial candidate in Kwara, has described the death of Onijagbo of Ijagbo, His Royal Majesty, Oba Salahudeen Olagunju Adeyeye Fagbemi Obembe II, as shocking, stressing that his demise is coming at a time when Kwara needed his wise counsel the most.
Lawal equally described the late monarch as an advocate of communal development.
A statement by his Deputy Director of Media and Strategic Communications of the SDP Campaign Organization, Abdulrasheed Akogun, remarked that “the death of Kabiesi although aged, coming at this time when his wise counsel and father guidance is much needed is shocking and sad.”
The statement reads in part, “I however take solace in the fact that Kabiesi lived a life full of sacrifice, service to humanity and above all a strong advocate of peaceful coexistence and communal development.
“The unprecedented development in Ijagbo and upliftment of Ijagbo sons and daughters are glowing testament to Kabiesi’s love, dedication and passion for the throne and the town.
“It is on that note I enjoin the immediate family, Ijagbo, Oyun local government and the Kwara State traditional council under the able leadership of the Emir of Ilorin, Sheikh Dr Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari to take solace in the fact that Kabiesi lived a fulfilling life.
“May God grant us all the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss,” Lawal prayed.
