Encouraging Community Policing, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba has charged the police officers including the embattled special police constabularies to be diligent, morally upright, and dedicated in their task.
The encouragement was made during the IGP’s one-day official visit to Kwara State Police Command on Wednesday 15th of September, 2021.
The IGP was subsequently received by the Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.
His words read, apart: “Like I said, to whom much is giving, much is expected. I urge you to increase your commitment to your work. Change your attitude towards your work. Increase your loyalty in obedience to constituted authority. Stop leaving bits. Stop extortion, bribery, and corruption.
“In as much as you want to excel on this uniform, you must be morally upright. Support those close to you so that they can support you in the discharge of your duties and responsibilities,” charging them on morality, IGP said.
Also, Usman made it know that he has received directives, from President Muhammad Buhari to recruit officers across the 774 Local Government Area of Nigeria, that in a bid to strengthen the police force.
He said: “The directives from Mr. President is that we have to recruit from all the 774 Local Government Areas of the country. We’ll train them and send them back to their communities and their local government because we believe if you bring back a policeman who knows his community will be more effective than the one that will come from Borno to Kwara.”
