The indigenous students’ union association, National Association of Kwara State Student (NAKSS), office of the Vice-President (Special Duty), has awarded some selected personalities with Leadership Awards in Kwara.
According to the NAKSS Vice-President (Special Duties) Comrade Muhammad Haleemah, she noted that the awardees were carefully selected in recognition of their numerous contribution towards the upliftment of the youths and students in the state.
In a leadership summit organized by the students union association, with the theme “Self Confidence as the Recipe for Personal Development & Advancement for Kwara State Students” held in Ilorin, the state capital on Saturday, a university Don Adam Abdullahi fondly called Adam Fish, The Emir of Lafiagi ably represented by one of his aides, wife of the Ex-Kwara Gubernatorial Aspirant, Hajia Fatimah Audu Makama, Former House of Representative Member representing Patigi/Moro constituency, Hon. Ahman Patigi, alongside other dignitaries across the various sector of the state, we’re awarded Leadership Award.
During her address, The Guest Speaker, Hajia Fatimah AbdulKadri who delivered a speech titled, ‘Self-confidence as a recipe for National Development’described the youths as a representative of the future of Kwara. She added that self-development, ability, and skills are a formal line to becoming a leader.
She said: “The youths particularly the students represent the future of Kwara state. I speak to you today about all facts about leadership and how to maintain leadership. Simply speaking, self-confidence refers to confidence in oneself, it is considered as one of the qualities of being a good leader.
“For some of us, Creative innovative thinking, Perseverance, Openness to change are qualities of a good leader. The journey of self-development must involve self-discovery.
“There must be a nexus between the leadership of the young and the leadership of the old. Do not build on youth exuberance. Do not build your leadership on violence. Don’t do it alone. Do it with others.
“Your self revolvement should start NOW, ”she added.
In his goodwill message, Advocate Adam Abdullahi thanked the organizers for the award while extolling the virtues of a girl child. He added that the office of the association vice-president’s special duties occupied by a female leader is a signal of paradigm shift from the old order.
“Let me sincerely appreciate the organizers of this thoughtful summit. This is not the first summit in Kwara, but I must say this summit signifies change and the change they say begins with you and me.
“The take-home here is that Self-Confidence is one of the key ingredients to becoming a good Leader. The youth must be ever ready for a paradigm shift from the old order. You must challenge the power that be. The youth must take what belongs to them. Mind you, without violence or confrontation. And while you’re doing that, always include the interest of the girl child.
“I’m glad that the office of the NAKSS vice-president is occupied by a dedicated, resilient, and focused lady. We must always encourage every girl child in leadership building.”
