The Federation of Ojoku Students’ Union (FOSU), Kwara State University Chapter, has awarded leadership awards to prominent sons and daughters of its community.
The event which is the 3rd edition tagged ‘Symposium and Awards Ceremony’ organized by the indigenous students’ of Ojoku land held on Wednesday at the Kwara State University Auditorium.
The Senator who represented Kwara South Senatorial District in the 8th National Assembly, Senator Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim was among the awardees nominated by the indigenous students’ union.
Senator Rafiu was awarded the Political Leadership and Community Icon of the year award.
Speaking at the event held on KWASU Campus, Hon. Rotimi Atitebi who represented the ex-lawmaker lauded the leadership of the FOSU KWASU Chapter for selecting him to receive the award, saying Senator Rafiu has always been contributing to the development of Ojoku land, however, he noted that the award was a challenge for him to do more.
“I have always identified myself with Ojoku youths and I will continue to extend the hands of fellowship to you,” the ex-lawmaker told FOSU KWASU chapter members.
The Ojoku born politician who expressed his delight for the award admonished the students to continue to be good ambassadors of Ojoku land anywhere they found themselves.
Also speaking, the Olojoku of Ojoku, HRH Oba AbdulRazaq Adegboyega Afolabi Iyiolasemi III, represented by Prince AbdulQudus Afolabi in his royal message charged FOSU KWASU chapter members to continue to strengthen unity and promote love among themselves.
The monarch who stressed that there is power in unity encouraged FOSU KWASU chapter members to always preserve the interest of Ojoku land at all times.
He also prayed that Senator Rafiu will continue to progress adding that Ojoku land shall have many of his kind.
Therefore, the monarch was conferred the Most Celebrated Monarch of the Year, Kwara South Award.
Meanwhile, The president, Comrade Abdulkabir Ibrahim who could not also hide his joy appreciated Olojoku of Ojoku land for his royal leadership and fatherly support in ensuring that he is available for youths at all times.
He also thanked Senator Rafiu, indigenes of Ojoku, and other guests who graced the 3rd edition of Ojoku Day On Campus.
