Volunteer members and Administrative Heads of the Ali Ahmad Foundation, Saturday held an inaugural meeting where some key decisions were made including their readiness to give back to society as part of their core mandates.
The Inaugural meeting which had in attendance notable administrative heads and volunteer members of the foundation was said to be a step forward in the unveiling process of the Non-Governmental Organization.
In a statement on Sunday signed by the Director of Media and Publicity, Mujeebat Adewole, the foundation announced the inauguration of the Non-Governmental organization, while advocating for unity amongst members.
Speaking at the Inaugural meeting, the Executive Director of the Ali Ahmad Foundation, Barr. Sharafdeen Abdulraheem thanked volunteer members for their commitment towards adding value to society.
He added that the core mandate of the Non-Governmental Organization which is named after a Professor of Law and Ex-Kwara Speaker, Rt. Hon. Prof. Ali Ahmad was to promote the philanthropy legacies of the Founder and also to give back to society in his private capacity.
The Ali Ahmad Foundation (TAAF) is a conglomerate of community service volunteers and professionals established to provide support for talented and motivated individuals, including the less privileged; both old and young – recognising Community Development, Education, Social Services, Skill Acquisition, and Empowerment as a driver of social mobility and economic advancement.
In his words, the Kwara-based legal practitioner and Executive Director of the Foundation, said, “We can not give back to society without having well-thought-out plans and programmes, and that’s why we have come together today to deliberate.
“On behalf of our Founder and Chairman of the Ali Ahmad Foundation, I thank volunteer members and my fellow administrative colleagues for making today’s inaugural meeting a success. You have all demonstrated without any hindrances that we can achieve success in our aims and objectives to support the less privileged by forming a united front; For us, it’s a task that must be done, and by God’s grace and with your total commitment, we shall achieve success.”
While highlighting the upcoming programmes for the Foundation, Barrister Sharafdeen said, “Let me announce to you that in the last few weeks, the Foundation has carried out in its special support Education programmes a sponsorship of at least seven Kwara Students for a Media Training. Our effort is geared towards the advancement of youth in Kwara State.
“This skill acquisition initiative, a brainchild of Shuks Broadcast Mastery will run for two months and interested participants in Broadcasting, News Writing, and other Media-related training will be equipped with new skills. In the next few days, the general public will be notified of our modalities in selecting our beneficiaries for the skill acquisition programme.”
At the end of the meeting, Volunteer members were hosted to a modest feast amidst funfare courtesy of the Founder while picture sessions were observed to symbolise the unveiling process of the Foundation.
In attendance were: the Director of Programmes and Strategy, Miss Salman Rabiat; Admin Volunteer, Mr Abdulwahab El-Imam; Executive Director, Barr. Sharafdeen Abdulraheem.
Others include the art Volunteer, Mr Stephen Makinde; Member (Volunteer), Mr Mustapha Abdulwahab; and the Admin Volunteer, Mr Abdulwaheed Sulaiman, while the Director of Media and Publicity who was unavoidably absent joined the meeting on a virtual platform.
